FAQCredits & Billing

Credits & Billing

How credits work, what they cover, and how to manage your subscription.

What are credits?

Credits are prepaid usage units that power everything in Audio Studio. Every AI operation — from chatting with the assistant to generating voices, sound effects, and music — uses credits.

Different operations use different amounts of credits depending on their complexity and length. You can see the estimated credit cost before you generate audio.

Do credits expire?

It depends on how you got them.

Subscription credits are included with your plan and reset at the start of each billing period. Any unused subscription credits do not carry over.

Top-up credits are purchased separately and never expire. They remain in your account until you use them.

Your subscription credits are always used first before any top-up credits are consumed.

What uses credits?

Credits are consumed by:

  • Chat conversations with the AI assistant
  • Script generation from your story text
  • Voice generation — dialogue and narration
  • Sound effects generation
  • Music generation
  • Audio processing — effects, mixing, and export

You can see an estimated credit cost before starting any generation. The actual cost may vary slightly based on the final output length.

How do I check my balance?

Go to the Subscription page from your account menu. You'll see your current credit balance, how many credits are included in your plan, and your next renewal date.

Can I get a refund?

Subscription fees are non-refundable. However, if a generation fails due to a service error on our end, the credits for the failed portion may be automatically credited back to your account.

If you believe you were incorrectly charged, contact us at support@brainports.ai.

What happens when I run out of credits?

You'll see a notification letting you know your balance is too low to complete the requested operation. You have two options:

  • Buy a top-up to add credits immediately
  • Wait for your next billing period when your subscription credits reset

You won't lose any work — your existing projects, scripts, and generated audio remain accessible.

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

When you cancel, your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period. You can continue using Audio Studio and your remaining credits until that date.

After your subscription ends, your data is retained for a grace period according to your plan. During that time, you can resubscribe to regain access. After the grace period, your data may be permanently deleted.

If you're thinking about cancelling, consider downgrading to a lower tier instead. You'll keep access to your projects and continue receiving monthly credits.
