TroubleshootingPlayback Issues

Playback Issues

Fix audio playback problems — silent audio, empty timelines, missing segments, and volume issues.

Audio won't play

If you click play and don't hear anything:

  1. Check your device volume and make sure it's not muted.
  2. Check browser audio permissions. Some browsers block audio playback until you interact with the page. Click anywhere on the page and try again.
  3. Refresh the page. This reloads the audio data and often resolves playback issues.
  4. Try a different browser. If the problem persists, open your project in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge to rule out a browser-specific issue.
  5. Update your browser. Older browser versions can have audio playback bugs.

If audio plays in one browser but not another, the issue is likely a browser setting or extension. Try disabling extensions temporarily.

Timeline looks empty after generation

The timeline populates as each segment completes. If you started a generation and the timeline appears empty:

  1. Wait for segments to finish. Voice segments are generated first, followed by sound effects and music. The timeline fills in progressively.
  2. Refresh the page. The display may not have updated with the latest results.
  3. Check the Canvas tab. If the canvas shows segments but the timeline doesn't, a refresh should fix it.

If you see no segments anywhere and the generation status shows as complete, try regenerating the audio from the Audio tab.

Audio sounds different from the preview

The playback you hear in the timeline editor and the final exported file may sound slightly different. This is normal.

During export, the audio goes through a final mixing and loudness normalization pass that balances all the elements together. The timeline editor plays segments more independently.

For the most accurate preview of your final output, use the full-project playback rather than playing individual segments.

Segments appear out of order

If segments seem misplaced in the timeline:

  1. Drag and drop segments to reorder them directly in the timeline.
  2. Check the script in the Canvas tab to make sure the text and timing are correct.
  3. Regenerate a segment if its timing seems off — this will recalculate its placement.

Can't hear music or sound effects

If voices play fine but music or sound effects are silent:

  1. Check the layer volume controls. The timeline has separate volume sliders for voices, sound effects, and music. One or more may be muted or turned all the way down.
  2. Look for the mute icon next to each layer. Click it to unmute.
  3. Check the segment itself. Click on the music or sound effect segment to verify it has generated content.

If a music or SFX segment shows as complete but has no audio, try regenerating it with a slightly different prompt.
