Generation Issues
Fix problems with audio generation — stuck jobs, failed segments, credit errors, and more.
If a generation fails due to a service error, you won't be charged for the failed portion.
Generation is stuck or taking too long
Audio generation typically completes within 1 to 2 minutes, depending on the length and complexity of your story.
If it's been longer than a few minutes:
- Refresh the page. Your generation continues in the background regardless of what you see in the browser. Refreshing often restores the progress display.
- Check the Audio tab. Segments that have already completed will appear in the timeline, even if the overall job still shows as in progress.
- Wait a bit longer. Complex stories with many characters, sound effects, and music can take longer, especially during peak usage times.
If the job appears stuck for more than 10 minutes, try starting a new generation. Your project and script are saved and won't be affected.
A segment failed
Individual segments can occasionally fail while the rest of the generation completes successfully.
To fix a failed segment:
- Find the failed segment in the timeline or canvas.
- Click Regenerate on that specific segment.
- If it fails again, try one of these:
- Change the voice assigned to the segment.
- Simplify the text — remove unusual characters, shorten very long sentences, or break it into two segments.
- Rephrase the prompt for sound effects or music segments.
"Insufficient credits" error
This means your account doesn't have enough credits to complete the requested generation.
What to do:
- Go to the Subscription page to check your current balance.
- Buy a top-up to add credits immediately.
- Wait for your next billing period when subscription credits reset.
Before generating, check the estimated credit cost. If your balance is low, consider generating just the voices first, then adding sound effects and music later.
Project-wide sound effects or music generation is blocked
For project-wide generation scopes, voices must be generated before sound effects and music. This is because completed voice timing determines where sound effects and music should be placed in the timeline.
Solution: Generate voices first. Once voices are complete, the project-wide sound effects and music scopes will become available.
If you selected "All" and only voices generated, the sound effects and music should follow automatically. Refresh the page to check the current status.
Standalone clips are different. You can still ask Narra to create a single sound effect, music clip, or voice clip directly from chat, or generate standalone sound effects and music from the Media Library.
Generation cancelled unexpectedly
If you navigated away from the page or lost your internet connection during generation, don't worry. The generation continues running on our servers regardless of your browser state.
What to do:
- Go back to your project.
- Refresh the page.
- Check the Audio tab for the current status of your generation.
Your work is not lost. The generation will complete and the results will be waiting for you.
