Creating AudioStories & Scripts

Stories & Scripts

Create your story and shape it into a production-ready script with the help of Narra, your AI assistant.

Start a New Story

There are a few ways to kick off a new project:

  • Type a description — Tell Narra what kind of story you want. A sentence or two is enough to get started.

  • Upload a text file — Drop in a .txt file (up to 4,000 characters) and Narra will work with it.

  • Pick a sample prompt — The home page has ready-made prompts you can use as a jumping-off point, like:

    • "Write a thriller scene with three characters arguing in a warehouse"

    • "Create a short story about a musician's last performance"

    • "Write a horror scene in an abandoned hospital at night"

    • "Turn a children's bedtime story into audio with sound effects and gentle music"

Choose a Creation Mode

Brainports can build several kinds of audio projects from chat:

ModeUse it for
StoryNarrated scenes with characters, dialogue, SFX, and music
SongLyrics, vocal tracks, instrumental music, and song sections
PodcastMulti-speaker conversations, interviews, explainers, and commentary
LectureEducational narration with a clear structure and section flow
ClipShort standalone voice lines, sound effects, music cues, or quick clips that combine them

For podcasts and lectures, Narra can also use research when the request needs factual grounding or current information.

Chat with Narra

Narra is your AI creative partner. Once you start a conversation, you can go back and forth to develop characters, adjust the tone, change the setting, or take the story in a completely different direction.

Ask for rewrites, suggest plot twists, or request a different genre — Narra adapts to your direction.

You can also ask Narra to edit the production after audio is prepared, such as adding a music bed, changing a sound effect, applying voice processing, adjusting panning, or refining a specific speaker.

If your story is long, ask Narra to condense it. The AI can summarize while keeping the key beats intact.

The Canvas Tab

When you're ready to move from story to production, switch to the Canvas tab. Here, the AI transforms your story into a structured script containing:

  • Scenes with clear transitions

  • Dialogue assigned to specific characters

  • Narration segments

  • Sound effect cues (e.g., "door creaking open")

  • Music cues (e.g., "tense orchestral underscore")

This script is what drives the audio generation — every voice line, sound effect, and music segment comes from it.

Editing Your Script

You can edit the script directly in Canvas before generating audio. Click on any segment to change the text, adjust timing, rename characters, or remove sections you don't need.

This is the best time to make changes. Editing the script is free — generating audio costs credits.

Finalize your script before generating audio — it saves credits and gives you better results.

Version History

Canvas automatically tracks versions of your script. If you make changes and want to go back to an earlier version, you can revert with a single click. No work is ever lost.
